Shure's Foray Into the Consumer Market with State-of-the-Art Earphones

Niles, IL-based Shure Inc. has long been a mainstay manufacturer of professional-grade audio equipment, everything from microphones to wireless guitar systems. In the last few years, though, the company has forayed into the consumer arena with their sound-isolating "e series" earphones, which can retail for nearly $500. Here's a look at this high-end product line.

Shure has been in business since 1925. The company makes microphones and audio electronics to help amplify, process, and mix sound.

The privately held company's SM57 and SM58 mics are still the world's top sellers -- over 40 years after they were introduced. They also make digital signal processors and feedback eliminators, personal monitor systems, Hi-Fi phono cartridges, DJ needles, portable mixers and digital signal processors.

Shure Incorporated has regional offices in Europe and Asia, and a detailed network of manufacturer's representatives, distribution centers and authorized dealers around the world.
