The Kids Are Alright: The "Making Xbox Safe for Children" Road Show

The Microsoft Family Gaming Bus was in town Thursday, March 29 and Friday, March 30 at the Best Buy store on North Avenue. The bus was part of a campaign called “Safety is no game. Is your family set?” for which the goal of the campaign is to teach parents about the parental controls in the Xbox 360 and Windows Vista. We also provide education about the video game rating system. I’ve attached some photos of the bus and the fact sheet is pasted below my signature line.

In October, Microsoft Corp., Boys & Girls Clubs of America and Best Buy Co. Inc. launched a joint effort to provide parents with the information and tools they need to make appropriate content choices for their family. The program, “Safety is no game. Is your family set?” offers parents and caregivers tips, guidelines and hands-on training for keeping play within appropriate boundaries on the Xbox 360™ video game and entertainment system. In particular, the campaign highlights the built-in parental controls features of Xbox 360, called Family Settings, and the Entertainment Software Rating Board video game ratings system. The campaign in 2007 will also include information about the parental controls available in Microsoft’s new Windows Vista™ operating system.
