Tappity.com founder Scott Robbin's company is an online directory of mobile web sites -- that is, those that companies put out specifically for mobile phone and PDA users. He wanted to make his site easier to search and navigate than other similar sites out there. He also decided that it would be driven and populated by user submissions.

Says the founder:

"As I started to explore the mobile web, I kept finding myself working harder to locate a company's mobile site, than I did actually retrieving the information. There were a few mobile site directories out there, none of which were easy to navigate/search, and which were always incomplete. I kept thinking to myself that it was an impossible task to constantly scour the web and keep it updated. At the same time, my fascination was growing with existing user-driven sites that were popping up left and right. It seemed a natural combo to have a mobile site directory that was powered by user submissions."
