Salad Spinners sells...salads. And trendy and health-conscious Chicagoans are buying them: In January, owner Rich Levy's company was achieving sales of $2 million at his three locations. Now, he's on the verge of franchising. Here's a look at his socially aware restaurant concept (a portion of profits go to foundations and charities).
The company's newest location is at 223 W. Lake. Prior to starting his own concept in 2000, Levy was spent time working with Levy Restaurants (no relation). He has donated to 21 foundations and charities on behalf of his company and accepts customer’s suggestions on additional contributions.
