The Innovation Whiteboard Challenge was held by the MIT Enterprise Forum and RPX Group and gave 12 entrepreneurs 5-minutes each the chance to present their product concepts to an audience of 150. They got to use the whiteboard and their wits. Today, in episode 1 of 12, we feature Katinka Vigh, who had a new idea for an allegy diagnosis method.
The event was held on June 19, at Drinker Biddle Gardner and Carton.
Ms. Vigh's statement:
“One third of Americans suffer from allergies and could be treated more effectively using high informaiton content diagnostics. I have developed a proteing microarray to diagnose allergy that is based on proven biological principales and can be easily deployed in any clinical lab. While current diagnostics use invasive specimen collections to test hypersensitivity to 10 to 20 allergencs at $6/allergen, the microarray can test up to 1000 allergens at $0.20/allergen using a drop of blood. A pilot array, focusing on pollen allergens, has been manufactured and tested on a random population sample of 175 individuals.”
