Chicago Couture: the Offbeat Designs of Kate Jacobsen

On August 30, Chicago fashion designer Kate Jacobsen celebrated her boutique's second anniversary with a runway show featuring her Fall 2007 collection.

She started her own company in 2000 and opened her retail space in 2005 at 56 West Maple, Chicago, IL “Shibuy Hada” came about as a name from discussions with she had with a customer. Says the designer: "Shibuy" would be the kind of subtle beauty, not all-at-once, cool temperament, deepened through time and wear. It would never be garish, or trendy, but always elegant. Hada, on the other hand, literally means the complexion of things, or the public face we put on. It is smart, chic, hot in temperament, bold."
