Inventables, Part 2: Translucent Concrete meets a Transparent Toaster

Inventables is a highly inventive local company that helps other companies like Nike and Procter & Gamble innovate. How? By collecting fascinating gadgets, tools, screws, magnets and other offbeat paraphernalia from all over the world and presenting them in Innovation Centers.

The company currently has five full-time and nine part-time employees, and a total of 65 customers, many of which are household names. The company offers three different service levels — the Informer, the Insider and the Innovator — for annual fees that range from $63,000 to $250,000. Their cutting edge Innovation Centers, which are placed in high-traffic areas at companies to encourage free-thinking and on-the-spot brainstorming, feature 60 different technologies and are updated each quarter.
